After three fabulous days and nights in Paris, we were off to the south of Italy to meet up with my dad and, as another surprise to my mom, my sister. We landed in Naples and drove (with a white knuckles) along the coast down to Amalfi. By far our favorite part of the trip was the boat we rented from Gianni and his crew. Highly recommended to anyone! After fun in the sun, we headed up to Rome for some delicious bites and holy sights before making the long, sad trip home. It was lots of family time, but it made for one amazing summer vacay!
Is it just me or whenever you say those three words, do you automatically hear Billy Madison singing his little diddy? “Ohhhhh…Back To School. Back To School. To Prove To Dad That I’m Not A Fool.”
Gives me a smile every time. So whether you’re actually starting classes this month or you graduated a long (long) time ago, it’s still a great excuse to refresh your wardrobe and make sure you’re looking right. Check out my little lookbook for the fall must haves…oh and make sure you’ve got your lunch packed up, your boots tied tight…I really hope you don’t get in a fight.
Probably one of my all time favorite family life memories will be surprising my mom with a trip to Paris. We were planning on meeting up with my Dad who was on business in Italy and I managed to make it all the way to the airport with her before revealing that I had scheduled us three days in Paris. She had never been and it was so awesome to experience it for the first time with her. We ate amazing food, drank great wine, went to adorable markets and did some fantastic shopping. We also managed to fit in some sightseeing too! For a city that already held such a special place in my heart, Paris delighted again with a whole new set of treasured memories.
Since adding a Q&A page recently, I’ve gotten several questions about how to master business casual. So I decided to create a capsule dedicated to this elusive, and sometimes annoying, dress code. Click on the pictures to shop!
I pick back up in Kyoto — hands down one of the coolest cities in the world. We got a little taste of almost everything Japan has to offer there (temples, zen gardens, ramen, wagyu beef, ryokans, nightlife, bamboo groves, kaiseki, sake, high speed trains…the list goes on). We rounded out our trip with a few more days in Tokyo, taking in some sumo and the craziness of Robot Restaurant, and a day (and night) of relaxing onsen in Hakone. Japan stunned us all in the best way possible and I’m sure it won’t be the last time we visit.
Japan is one of those places that changes you. From the food, the people and the natural beauty to the fashion, the city bustle and the cultural “norms”, this gorgeous country leaves an impression …and leaves you wanting more.
Our trip began with a couple short days in Tokyo, then we were off to Kyoto and Nara. I’ve gathered some highlights, but please feel free to shoot me an email if you have any specific questions about what we did, saw or experienced! We’d love to share!
